Hey, I’m Stav, a 20-something marine biologist passionate about travel, poetry, protecting our oceans and the three F’s of life: friends, family, and food! In July of 2016 I joined the US Peace Corps and am currently fulfilling my 27 months of service volunteering in the beautiful Philippines.
If you’re just getting started on my blog, check out how I came to join the Peace Corps in the first place! And if you want to delve into my personal philosophies a little more, read my first-ever post on growing up as a nomad. If you’re in the mood for something to get your stomach growling explore the posts on my (minor) obsessions with cheese, ice cream, and local cuisine. And click these links if you want to learn more about Filipino culture, indigenous tribes, and the importance of a smile.
Part of the Peace Corps’ mission is to promote world peace and friendship through it’s third goal: ‘to help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans’. So aside from writing this blog to share my Philippines experience with family and friends, I aim to contribute to this ‘mission’ by describing a unique and wonderful culture that readers might not otherwise experience. Hopefully, my sharing goes beyond Americans and reaches other exotic corners of the world but, hey, baby steps. Anyway, thanks for stopping by and being a part of my journey!
